This homeowner is a modern industrial designer and designed the hardscape to create a modern minimalist garden. Joan Grabel, landscape designer of Park Slope Design, designed a drought tolerant garden in keeping with those aesthetics. They also used stones in mass throughout the border.

The garden was installed 15 months ago - they planted Euphorbia "Sticks on Fire", Agave Tequiliana, Phormiums, Agave Regina and used Sedum groundcover to replace lawn. Notice the fence as well ñ the boards are made from recycled plastic bottles and saw dust.

This is a newly planted garden (March 30th!) and a great opportunity to see the spacing needed when you plan your garden! Joan Grabel, landscape designer of www.parkslopedesign.com was hired to design a predominately drought tolerant garden. There is a separate drip line for Papyrus and all other plants are drought tolerant and on a separate drip system. Incorporated into the garden design is lavender colored recycled landscape glass and stones. Purple/lavender is one of the dominant colors of the composition, and various shades of purple and lavender are used in the design.

Drip irrigation has been installed where applicable and spray for the ground cover. Once established, this garden will only need watering about once a week.
